Feb.17, I received an emergency call from A that the manager of the building for the friendship centre was very mad because the centre was behind in paying the rent for a few weeks. He threatened to kick us out, he already put a rental sign outside the building overnight. He also threatened to increase the rent more than 10%.
I got to the centre at 4 p.m. There were a few volunteers sitting there waiting for the manager to come at 5 p.m. to pick up the rent. God impressed on one of us to write out a cheque to cover the rest of the rent. When the manager finally come, he was pleased to have the money. The men also prayed with him.
Feb. 26 is the fund raising night for the centre. Everyone worked so hard to scrub the place clean, taking down partitions to enlarge the room, setting up tables and chairs for over 100 people. The ladies made a wonderful Middle Eastern dish called "Upside down dinner"with chicken, rice, vegetable and spices, which I also experimented at home and have been eating it for a whole week, I still have not gotten tire of it. We all made salad, but mine was totally unused because others made so much.
Well, it started snowing in the afternoon. By night fall, it felt more like snowing ice. There were only 30 odd people show up. D made a very good presentation of the work of the centre.
All the guest commented how they enjoyed the food. Then there was an silent aution. I put most of the gifts given to me in the past by the parents in my school into good use. Some people got some really good bargins. I was sure the good Lord knows what he was doing.
To-day, D e-mail me, said there is enough donation from that night to cover the rent for March. They gave it to the manager and prayed with him also, who must be dumb founded how we got the money. God is an awsome God, he loves to surprise people!
Because of the large amount of unused food. I took home more "Upside down dinner", enough for the rest of the week. I love its name. It reminds me God's world is upside down from ours :)
